Where am I?

Do you know the way to Oxford Street?

February 22, 2009 at 06:09 PM | categories: travel, UK | View Comments

After this week's class, I spent the weekend in London. There were a large number of tourists for mid-February, probably thanks to the weak pound. I was stopped on the street four or five times by people looking for directions to the British Museum - possibly for the exhibit on Shah 'Abbas?

I didn't go into any museums at all, on this trip; the weather was nice, so mostly I walked around and re-visited favorite pubs.

Before the class started in Reading, I took a walk in the National Trust area near Sonning. There was still a little snow on the ground, but the weather was warm and dry.

Lunch was at the Catherine Wheel on Station Rd - nice pub.

Foggy London Town

They say this was the coldest day in London for at least 10 years. Walking around by the Thames, I wouldn't argue.

Sorry, that was Canterbury in 2006. Anyway, I can't help thinking that these three signs are related, somehow.

"What do you feel like for lunch?" I asked Matt. "How about Viking?" he answered. "We haven't had Viking for a while."

It's been a few years, but here I am at the Viking Kitchen on Walmgate, in York.

Where's Matt?
